A rearing horse can be very frightening and is one of the worst vices a horse can have. So what makes a horse  rear whilst he is being ridden?

Before you can start retraining a horse from rearing you must first look at why the horse is rearing and see what preventative actions can be taken. There are many reasons why a horse may rear whilst being ridden but the main reasons are as follows;

1  A heavy handed or novice rider 

2  The use of an inappropriate or harsh bit

3  Pain in the horse’s mouth caused by teeth or gum problems.

4  Pain in the horse’s back, either in the spine itself or in the muscles.

5  A stressful situation which the horse cannot escape from eg fear of a scary object

6  Badly fitting horse tack - it could be the horse riding saddle, bridle or the horse’s bit is too big or too small.

With good dog treat recipies one can make their dog’s goodies at home, and know just exactly what is in them.

Canned food is one place where many owners worry about just how safe what they’re giving their dog is. There are some very simple dog food recipes that anyone can make at home. Using about 1 pound of ground beef, pork, or chicken (or a combination of all three if you like) lightly fry it in a vegetable oil (not corn oil) until it is just brown, not done all the way through. Remove it from the heat and drain all the fat that cooked out off of it. In a 4 quart heavy pan with a tight fitting lid, put 4 cups of water and 1 tablespoon of margarine. When the water starts to boil add 2 cups of white or brown rice, bring back to a boil, turn the heat to low and cook until half-way done. At this point at the cooled drained meat, put the lid back on and let the rice finish cooking. This will also finish cooking the meat. If you want you can add a few finely chopped carrots when you add the meat, but never ever add garlic or onion as these are not good for dogs. Let it cool completely before feeding to your canine. Depending on the size of your dog, and how many you have, this can be kept in the fridge for up to a week and dished up as needed.

Always check with your vet if you are in doubt about what it is safe to feed your animal and what is not. There are many things that dogs love to eat that are not good for them. One of these is cheese as the fat and salt content in it can cause, or make worse, many health problems.

The golden rule, when making dog treats, is to use only ingredients that a dog would find, and eat, in the wild. They may love eggs, but with all the things that chickens are fed these days, it may not be wise to use a lot of them when making their goodies.
